Brows FAQ
What are permanent eyebrow cosmetics?
Permanent eyebrow cosmetics, also known as eyebrow tattooing, is a procedure where pigment is implanted into the skin to create the appearance of fuller, more defined eyebrows. We offer 5 different types of eyebrow tattoo services: Feather Nano Brows, Microblading, Nano Shading Combo, Microshading Combo, and Powder Brows.

A feathery style giving volume and definition by adding powdery hair strokes to enhance the natural brow. This technique is performed with a tattoo machine and is compatible with all skin types from normal, combo, oily, and mature skin types. Results can last 1-3 years depending on the client’s skin type and lifestyle. This is the latest hair strokes technique and is an updated version of microblading. The pigment is implanted in a more superficial layer of the skin with a needle for softer results.
Realistic 3D hairlike strokes created with a manual handheld tool made of microneedles. This technique blends seamlessly with your existing hair and is most compatible with normal/dry skin. Can be applied on oily skin, but may have a shorter retention rate and strokes may not heal as crisp. Results can last 1-3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle.
The Nanoshading Combo combines the best of both worlds with both hair strokes and shading for a natural yet soft makeup finish once healed. This is recommended for clients who want a more defined shape and low maintenance but want a natural touch. This style is created with a tattoo machine, compatible with all skin types, and results can last 1-3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle.
This is a manual technique combining microbladed hair strokes along with shading to create more fullness and depth. This style creates a more compact look and is compatible with normal, dry, up to combination skin. Results can last 1-3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle.
This technique uses a tattoo machine and needle to implant pixels in the skin to create a powdery makeup-like finish with a gradient towards the front of the brow. This style is recommended for clients who want a more defined shape and a permanent tinted look. This method is compatible with all skin types. Results can last 1-3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle.
Appointments are typically 2.5 – 3.5 hours depending on the style and artist. This includes a thorough in person consultation, before and after photos, brow shaping, the tattoo procedure, and detailed instructions on how to care for your brows after the appointment.
The longevity of permanent eyebrows vary depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare, but typically, they last between 1 to 3 years before needing a touch up. Annual or Bi-Annual Touch-ups may be needed to maintain the desired look. Combo to Oily Skin types may need more frequent touch ups as the natural moisture in the skin can cause pigment to fade faster. An active lifestyle with heavy sweating or sun exposure can also cause the pigment to fade faster. Varying health conditions such as hyperthyroidism, Auto-immune diseases or a weakened immune system can also cause the pigment to fade faster.
Pain levels vary from person to person. Depending on the brow service, numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to minimize pain. We always use a topical numbing agent throughout the procedure to minimize any discomfort & but most of our clients report minimal pain and usually fall asleep even before topical anesthetic is applied.
Facial Symmetry is actually rare, and it is very common to have asymmetry in the facial features, especially the eyebrows! Nine out of ten clients have one eyebrow that is higher than the other, or one side of the face that is wider, and eyes that are unlevel. We will custom design each brow shape according to the natural bone structure of your face so both brows are resting on your brow bone. We will try to make the brows as even as possible in thickness and size, and can adjust accordingly if there is wiggle room. However we will keep the brows closest to your bone structure for the most natural look.
If you have a mole or a blemish in the eyebrow area, we will avoid tattooing over that area because it may cause inflammation or can even lead to infection. When you come back for a touchup, if your blemish is healed, we can tattoo over the area. If you have a scar in the area, we can work over it as long as it is flat or indented but we cannot guarantee the pigment will retain after one session. It can take multiple sessions depending on the thickness of the skin and scar.
It is not recommended to apply makeup to the brows during the initial healing period of 7-10 days but you can apply makeup to the rest of your face. Please be careful when using powders on your forehead and make sure your brushes are clean to avoid the risk of infection. We recommend waiting 2 weeks or until your brows are completely healed and finished flaking before applying makeup on them again.
Yes. However, we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks or until your brows are fully healed before getting your brows waxed or threaded. We provide a little razor in your aftercare for any maintenance that may be required to upkeep your brows.

Initial healing typically takes about 7-10 days for microblading and feather nano brows, and up to 14 days for ombre powder brows and the nanoshading combo. During this time, the brows will go through many stages. The pigment may appear darker and bolder during the first few days, then it will get itchy and may start flaking. After the flaking process, the brows will go through a ghosting stage where they appear lighter because the skin has thickened during the healing process, which hides the color. When the skin has completely healed in 4 weeks, the true color and texture are revealed. Please follow the after care instructions with the kit that we provide, and trust the process.
We offer a complimentary touch up between 6 – 10 weeks from your initial appointment to perfect the shape and color. Healed results vary from person to person so the touch up session allows us to make adjustments and perfect the brows as needed. We expect the brows to fade about 30% from the first session and also shrink about 10% all around. We can make the brows thicker and darker as desired. If you like the color, we can keep the same formula and just add another layer of color to reinforce the strokes or shading.
After that, It is recommended to return for annual or semi-annual color boosts. Maintenance touch-ups are typically needed every 1-2 years for combo/oily skin and up to 3 years for normal skin. Generally, most clients come back every 2-3 years. If you think it’s time for a touch up, please send us a photo and we can provide a link to book. If we feel that the color retention is still adequate, we will advise to wait longer before coming in.
Mild swelling and redness immediately after the procedure.
Itching and mild scabbing during the healing process.
Infection or allergic reaction, although rare, can occur if aftercare instructions are not followed.
Skin will feel tight and may sting, similar to the sensation of a sunburn.
During the consultation, the technician will assess your skin type, discuss your desired outcome, review photos of fresh and healed work, explain the procedure, including potential risks and aftercare. This is also a good time to ask any questions or show any reference photos you may have.
During your in person consultation, we will discuss exactly what you are looking for with your new brows. You can show us photos of brows you like or even photos of how you fill in your own brows. We will take this into consideration before we start to map your brows. We will measure your facial features and custom design your shape based on your bone structure, as well as your requests. We will review the shape with you and can make any adjustments as needed. We will only start once the shape has been approved by you.
As for color, our pigments are the highest quality and we can match every type of hair color. Once we have determined what shade to use based on your brow color, hair color, and skin tone, we will custom mix a formula that will be a perfect match for your brows. We will typically do a true match on the first session with the expectation of the brows losing 20-30% of its intensity during the healing process. The final result will look like a softer and more natural version of the original color. We will assess the color again at the complimentary touch up appointment and can always go darker as needed. We prefer to build on the color versus going too dark and not being able to go back. Healed results always vary depending on the client, skin type, and lifestyle.

While permanent, the pigment can fade over time and may be lightened with many different removal treatments. Complete removal is more challenging and may require multiple sessions. We offer two types of removal, that can aid in lightening the previous permanent makeup enough for us to work over and create new brows for you.
